This project is a collaborative project with Monash University, with the aim of developing a prototype electronic controller for the Project 40 OZ-ECP brake product. The controller is to be purpose-designed to suit the OZ-ECP valve arrangements. As far as practicable, it is compatible with the AAR ECP standards, and to allow for the easy subsequent addition of Project 2 Health Card technology to the OZ-ECP system.

Progress to date:

  • Successful development of prototype electronic controller module.
  • Successful testing of 20 prototype electronic controller modules on a field trial in Rockhampton in April 2006.

Future outcomes:

  • Ongoing development and refinement of electronic controller prototype in conjunction with OZ-ECP technology including driver-friendly controls and train brake feedback screen.
  • Commercialisation will be undertaken as a part of the Oz-ECP Brakes technology.

Project Leader: Professor Peter Wolfs (Central Queensland University)

Project Manager: Mr Barry Payne (Queensland Rail)
