AUSTRALIA’S railway industry is running short on specialist
rolling stock engineers, so enrol now to be in great demand!
The University of Wollongong (UoW) can take your enrolment enquiry
now for the 2007 second semester intake of its unique
distance-delivered Graduate Certificate in Rollingstock
Engineering/Master of Rollingstock Engineering postgraduate
courses.
UoW, a Rail Cooperative Research Centre Core Participant, is
managing the development of the courses on behalf of the Rail CRC.
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the professional
body of knowledge in rollingstock engineering.
Subjects for the Graduate Certificate course (which also forms the
first step in the Master of Rollingstock Engineering) are:
- ENGG924 Railway and rolling stock environment
- ENGG925 Rail motive power
- ENGG926 Rail vehicle design
- ENGG927 Rollingstock safety and braking systems
The course is offered by distance education, and uses a course
website for online team collaboration, class discussion and
interaction with the course tutor.
Entry Requirements: A bachelor degree in engineering from a
recognised tertiary institution or equivalent.

The Rolling Stock postgraduate courses form one of approximately 40
Rail CRC research projects, which were established and supported
under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research
Centres Programme.
Rail CRC consists of rail industry partners – ARTC, Pacific
National, Queensland Rail, TMG Rail Technology, and Rail Corp - and
six university partners – the University of Wollongong,
Monash University, Central Queensland University, The University of
Queensland, University of South Australia, and the Queensland
University of Technology.
